Competition rules

PAF Tachov 48. ročník 2026

1. The competition is organized by the Czech Divers Association
2. The festival is open to both amateurs and professionals.
3. Material prizes for the winning authors.
4. Participation in the competition is subject to a fee. The competition fee is CZK 1,000. The proceeds from the fees will be used to fund prizes for the contestants and to organize a traveling festival exhibition. Please pay the fee to account number: 2682260297/0100 at KB Tachov.
5. Competition categories
5.1. Black and white photography
5.2. Color photography from fresh natural waters
5.3. Color photography from seas and oceans
5.4. Photography taken in a pool or open water and edited using creative technology
5.6. Author's portfolio – the author must send 4 photographs according to the prescribed themes

  • A - Wide-angle shot without a diver
  • B - Wide-angle shot with a diver
  • C - Macro
  • D - Photograph of an aquatic animal

6. The competition photos will be judged by a panel of experts. The photos will be judged anonymously, i.e. without the author's name being disclosed.
7. One author may submit 1-3 photos in each category.
The Author's Portfolio category is judged as a whole and must contain 4 photos.
8. Competition photos may not be used in more than one category. A photograph taken in a short time interval with the same motif is also considered to be the same photograph.
9. Photographs must be taken underwater while diving.
10. The applicant must submit the photographs in electronic form (in one of the usual data formats, e.g., jpg, bmp). The recommended file size is 20 x 30 cm/300 dpi (2400 x 3600 pixels). The file must not be larger than 5 MB.
11. Only photographs and works that have not yet competed at the PAF Tachov festival may be submitted to the competition in all categories.
12. From the selected competition photographs, 150 copies in 30x45 cm format will be produced at the organizer's expense for the "PAF Tachov" traveling festival exhibition. If you are interested in installing this exhibition in your city, please contact the organizer.
13. The applicant must be the author of the submitted photograph and must be an adult with legal capacity at the time of submission. The festival organizer shall not be held liable if, as a result of the publication of the photograph, it is found that its acquisition or disposal by the applicant was in violation of legal regulations.
14. The copyrights to the competition photographs remain with the contestant, but by participating in the competition, the author agrees to the use of the photographs for the purpose of promoting the PAF Tachov Festival.
15. The author agrees to all uses of the submitted photographs for the promotion of the PAF Tachov Festival, but exclusively for educational and non-commercial purposes (e.g., exhibitions, publications about the festival, calendars, brochures, etc.). The author agrees that the use will be free of charge and for an unlimited period of time, while the author's copyrights remain unaffected (the author of the photograph will, of course, be credited).
16. By entering the competition, the participant agrees to all the above rules and conditions of the competition and the use of the submitted photographs.
17. The author is aware that if the submitted photographs do not meet the specified requirements, the competition fee is not paid, or the application is not submitted in the specified manner, their application will be disqualified from the competition.
